Mary Edmonia Lewis was the first Black and Native American sculptor to win international acclaim, working in marble in Rome. She never came to Bozeman. Her brother, Samuel W. Lewis, barber, showman, one of the town's first Black property owners, spent his life keeping a room made up for a sister who never arrived. This tour is his fabulation of the homecoming he built and she never took.
